Canada dropping pre-arrival PCR test – However still red tape!

pre-arrival PCR test

According to sources as of March 1, 2022 fully vaccinated Canadians who travel abroad will no longer be obligated to take the pre-arrival PCR test. However, Canadian travellers will still be required to take a pre-arrival test.

Travellers can take a rapid antigen test which is far more cheaper than the PCR test.

Another restriction is children returning to Canada will no longer have to isolate for 14 days from daycares, schools or other crowded gatherings.

The government was sure to mention that these sudden changes came from the improving cases of the omicron virus and not the ongoing protest demonstrations.

It was also said that fully vaccinated travellers entering Canada might be randomly selected for a PCR test upon approval in entering the country, however, they will not have to quarantine while awaiting the results. Travellers returning from abroad will have to remain quarantined until awaiting results of their test.

According to the CBC some travellers have said they have been waiting up to six days for their at-home test results.
