First case of variant COVID-19 case found in Quebec

The first case of variant COVID-19 from the U.K. has been detected in Quebec. The variant coronavirus was contracted from a family member who had recently returned from the U.K. and passed it on to a family member.

The traveller tested positive on December 13, 2020 and has infected three of his family.

Little is known about the variant COVID-19 except it is more infectious than the original strain.

The variant COVID-19 strain has been detected in Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta.
