Old Montreal Protest about curfew – Have Montrealer’s had enough?

Old Montreal Protest about curfew

Last night Sunday April 11, 2021 a group of young Montrealers took to the streets of Old Montreal in protest to the roll back of the Quebec curfew to 8 P.M. in Montreal.

Montreal police had their hands full handing out over 100 tickets and arrested several protestors. Protestors were chanting ” Freedom for the young.”

The protest started off calm with music and chanting however, it turned violent when protestors lite a garbage can on fire, police then rushed the crowd using tear gas. Protestors ran causing damage by breaking many windows on the narrow streets.

A few protestors interviewed said the Quebec government has no scientific proof that the curfew is a measure to stop the spread of the coronavirus and is not logical.

Does it make sense we can shop and go about our day but at 8 P.M. we need to be locked up in our homes?

Has the Quebec Government gone too far?
