The Caesar turns 50! Special edition book – 50 years 50 stories!

Canada’s Cocktail turns 50 this year!  To mark this milestone, Canadians representing every province and territory have shared their personal Caesar stories in a first-of-its-kind commemorative book, “The Caesar. 50 Years. 50 Stories: Celebrating a Half-Century of Canada’s National Cocktail.”

“What other drink can rightly claim that it came, it quenched and it conquered Canada,” said Simon Hancock, long-time Caesar enthusiast and the book’s editor.  “The Caesar is more than a drink, it’s a cultural icon.  Over the past 50 years, it’s become embedded in Canadians’ social customs, pride and traditions like no other.”

The stories each author has shared, make Hancock’s point abundantly clear!  From brunch traditions, to hot tub rituals, love connections and more, the book showcases the long-held belief of every Caesar lover: for every Caesar savoured, there’s a story shared.

Hancock reviewed more than 2,500 stories submitted by Canadians online and via the Mott’s Clamato social media pages, selecting 50 for the book.  These touching, sometimes funny, and all genuine stories are as diverse as the storytellers themselves.  Even some well-known Caesar-loving Canadians participated including Dan Aykroyd, Doug Gilmour, Colin Mochrie, Jason Priestley and For Better or For Worse cartoonist, Lynn Johnston who fittingly chose to tell her story with an original drawing.

The result is an 80-page hardcover book filled with a collection of memories, stories, and anecdotes surrounding the legendary cocktail, illustrated with beautiful photography and artwork.
