Starting today the Old Port of Montreal will be closing as of midnight until 6 a.m. This decision came after a few rowdy nights when curfew was lifted last week in the province of Quebec.
Terraces in the Old Port of Montreal will be allowed to stay open until 11 p.m. and no one will be allowed south of de la Commune street after 12 p.m. tonight until 6 a.m.
The Old Port of Montréal Corporation that manages the 2.5 kilometres south of de la Commune Street announced the new restrictions this past Wednesday. The statement said, “Thank you for your co-operation and we look forward to seeing you at the Old Port!”
This new local curfew is in effect until further notice.
This was all from a few thousand Montrealers celebrating the lifting of Quebecs curfew this past weekend. Fireworks were set off, piles of trash were left on the streets, load partying and some fights broke out. The Riot Police were on hand and dispersed the crowd after a stabbing and a shooting took place at Place Jacques-Cartier.
Police will ensure that no one will be able to defies the new curfew along with security guards.
