There could be an exciting end to the year for Canadian  boxing fans. December 1 sees the WBC light flyweight champion Kim Clavel in action at the Place Bell in Laval. Her opponent is the WBC Super world light flyweight title holder Jessica Niery Plata.

Sports betting experts of NJ.Bet wonder whether the undefeated Clavel win a second title?

This will be Clavel’s 17th professional fight and all of the previous 16 have ended in victory for her. Her pro debut came five years ago and several of her early fights went the full distance. Only one of her first five pro contests saw her opponent fail to hear the final bell.

After two years in which Clavel racked up 10 wins, her first title shot was earned. Clavel took on Esmeralda Gaona Sagahon with the vacant NABF light flyweight title on the line. The result was never in doubt even though the fight went the full 10 rounds. Each of the three judges gave every single round to Clavel.

Betting on a points win for Clavel looks like a good idea here. It’s been a big year for those who love betting on sport with Canadians and US states such as New York and New Jersey betting millions of dollars on events.

Her unbeaten run continued and the vacant WBC Silver light flyweight title was won in 2021. That win saw her continue to climb the rankings and this year saw the unbeaten Clavel secure a world title bout.

Yesenia Gomez was her opponent in a bout for the WBC title. A convincing points win saw Clavel become a world champion. One judge gave her all 10 of the rounds, the other two scored her the winner by nine points.

Now the former Big Brother contestant bids to add another title belt to her collection. To do so, Clavel will have to defeat Jessica Niery Plata, something that two other boxers have already achieved.

The WBA Super light flyweight title has been a professional for a lot longer than Clavel. It was in 2011 that Plata turned professional and her career hasn’t always been a smooth ride.

Just the two losses on her pro record but it could so easily have been more. Two of her first five wins came via a split decision. That fifth win was 10 years ago and a significant one for the Mexican as it saw her win the WBC Youth light flyweight title and it was a split decision.

Her unbeaten record continued but another fight had one judge give the verdict to her opponent by four rounds. 2015 saw her finally lose a fight being beaten by Esmeralda Moreno. Plata bounced back well and two years later having moved up to flyweight defeated Maria Magdalena Rivera to become the WBF world champion.

A month later she suffered her second loss. The interim WBC flyweight title was on the line as she lost to Kenia Enriquez. 2018 saw her back with a belt around her waist as she became the WBA interim flyweight champion but again only won on a split decision.

This year has been successful for Plata. March saw her defeat Yesica Yolanda Zopp to win the WBA Super flyweight title. As you might have guessed, it was another split decision with one judge having her losing by four points.

With Clavel unbeaten and winning her fights by wide margins, a second world title looks on the way for the Canadian.
