3 essential car safety features – The  road fatalities in Quebec dropped in 2018 compared to the records gathered by the Societe de l’assurance automobile du Quebec (SAAQ) during its previous year. According to the road safety record gathered all over the eastern Canadian province, 359 people died in road collisions in 2019. This is slightly lower compared to the fatalities in 2017 when the organization recorded approximately 362 victims involved in road incidents. SAAQ also revealed that the number of people seriously and slightly injured due to road mishaps also decreased significantly. It means that people living in Montreal and other parts of Quebec must take their road safety seriously.
Some consider investing in  self-driving vehicles for safer driving along the Montreal roads. But aside from this option, most carmakers exert more effort in making vehicles that can transport their drivers and passengers safely from one place to another. Here are several car safety features that all vehicles in Montreal must never leave without.

3 essential car safety features

Forward Collision Warning System
Like the AEB system, cars with forward collision warning features use cameras, radar, laser, or a combination of both to alert the drivers if they are approaching another car too quickly in front of them. The car will prompt the driver with an audible signal, a visual cue, or a haptic warning to warn him or her about the impending danger. Transport Canada also mentioned that this warning system will  work well with the AEB system to stop the car promptly before any accident transpires.
Both these safety features will help prevent rear-end crashes, which is one of the leading causes of teen road accidents, according to car accident lawyers. Once these systems get activated, it will reduce the occurrence of car crashes on the road.
Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) System
Most drivers are now looking for this feature when planning to purchase a new vehicle today. Cars that come with this kind of safety feature can predict a potential collision. If the driver will not act on the danger immediately, the car will be able to activate the brake before any accidents happen. It will come in handy for drivers who accidentally fall asleep while driving on the road.
Transport Canada explained that this technology uses cameras and radar with an image processing technology that can help spot any obstacles that may cross the path of the car. Other more advanced AEB systems can also detect incoming cyclists, pedestrians, or animals crossing the street.
Night Vision System
Drivers who cannot prevent going on the road at night need to have a better vision to see the road. Since it is inevitable to come across animals and pedestrians in Montreal roads, an effective night vision system can help them see at night. This system works by generating real-time video images presented on a monitor or a heads-up display installed in the instrument panel.
It will help in the early detection of objects that drivers will fail to notice using headlamps alone. Not to mention, it also uses heat contrasts to determine any movements in front of the car.
These essential car safety features will help Montreal drivers cruise along the road safely all the time. With the use of these in-car safety features, drivers will become more alert when an unexpected hazard appears on the road. Since time is of the essence during accidents, these features will save the driver by alerting them before it’s too late.
