As of tomorrow, Friday September 7th, the Jacques-Cartier Pier in Montreal’s Old Port will be heating up with the arrival of the 1st edition of the Fête des Ameriques, an event that has been created and held in Miami for over 20 years.
The Montreal event will feature a contingent of 120 artisans from 15 Latin American countries and many well-known Quebec artists that will come together to celebrate the culture and traditions of Latin America, Mexico and the Caribbeans.
The festival, that will take place from Friday September 7th to Sunday September 9th, will offer the public a chance to explore Latin America’s gastronomy, tourism and artisanal crafts as well as a rich music program that features something for everyone. Entrance tickets (35$) are valid for the whole duration of the festival and give access to all musical performances.
What to expect at this weekend’s festival
- MUSIC & DANCE
People can sway to the sounds of popular and traditional Latin beats from international and local artists.From Elvis Crespo and his popular Suavemente to Florence K, and Mamselle Ruiz to Cuba’s hottest group Charanga Habanera.
- GASTRONOMY
Good food and gathering around the table is an integral part of Latin American culture, and the festival will be an opportunity to explore new tastes and feast on traditional dishes in a welcoming, festive and laid-back ambiance. More than 10 options of Latin American specialities will be served, some presented by local restaurants such as LGros Luxe who will be serving their burritos version all weekend long.
- ARTISANAL CRAFTS
Invitees will be able to discover new products and chat with Latin America artisans at the different artisanal craft counters.
