Notre Dame Basilica, one of Montreal’s longest-standing churches that will mark its 200th anniversary in 2029, is now presenting the return engagement of its hit music and lights immersive experience “AURA”, which is now playing every Friday night at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., and every Saturday night at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

The show, which made its debut in 2017 for the city’s 375th anniversary celebrations, gave over 1,300 performances for over 650,000 spectators from 137 countries between 2017 and 2020.
Using the basilica’s gothic revival design and its many majestic statues as a canvas, AURA celebrates the beauty and simplicity of lights and shapes, as well as the materials and colours that the basilica offers to its visitors, which are projected throughout its walls, ceiling and altarpiece. Add to that the spectacular musical soundtrack, which features segments played on the basilica’s magnificent 7000-pipe, 130-year-old Casavant organ by titular organist Pierre Grandmaison, and the end result is a 25-minute experience that immerses the audience into the beauty and glory of Notre Dame Basilica that will leave you amazed, dazzled and speechless.
As well, the return engagement features something new for those spectators who saw the original production of AURA. “There are three new stages to the show that features some new music and visual effects, and showcases more of the music from the basilica’s organ,” said Marie-Pierre Veilleux, Director of Public Affairs for the Moment Factory, the Montreal-based multimedia studio that created and designed both versions of AURA. “And for those who will be seeing AURA for the first time, we hope that it helps them discover what the basilica is all about, and see this amazing Montreal landmark in a new light.”
