The 2022 Montreal St Patrick’s Parade is back after two year absence

2022 St. Patrick’s Day Parade

After a long 2-year break due to COVID health restrictions – The 2022 Montreal St Patrick’s Parade will be held on March 20th, 2022 at 9:30 A.M.

It has been a challenge to envision what a parade will look like moving forward and this year, because of the timing of health restrictions and the current lifting of restrictions by the Province of Quebec. Normally, we have 3-4 months to prepare, but now we have only 3 weeks. Because of this, we will be smaller this year but we will have twice the excitement and enthusiasm. The downsized parade will consist mainly of the Irish community walking together (roughly 500 participants in the parade – normally 3000-4000) – no floats and no commercial units. There will be some bands and some other things that will be fun for the kids.

2022 Montreal St Patrick’s Parade is back

At this time, the health and safety of the Montreal community are still our greatest priority. We are asking that the crowd think of your safety constantly and spread out down the parade route. The route will be on

Ste-Catherine from Lambert-Closse (Start) to Union Street (End) to allow for the crowd to have more space to socially distance and watch the parade. Due to the fact that the official written decree from Quebec Public Health lifting the COVID-19 health restrictions is due March 14th, the ministry still reserves the right to cancel the parade if the COVID-19 situation changes from now until March 20th.

Montreal’s St Patrick’s Parade has been held since 1824 and the United Irish Societies have had the honour of hosting it since 1929. There is a responsibility to our members, community, history and to ensure the continuity of this event and we take this responsibility very seriously.

We thank our members, sister societies, and partners for their support and understanding and we wish you all a Happy St. Patrick’s Day on March 20th, 2022.

Please keep following for further updates over the coming days & weeks.
