Montreal en Lumiere Festival and Blue Metropolis literary festival

Montreal en Lumiere

Early 2023 will also see the return of the Montreal en Lumiere Festival, in which its 24th edition will run from February 16 to March 5. Under this year’s theme of “Discover the Best of Montreal in Winter!”, festival goers will get to experience this with such attractions as the ice skating loop, the many colourful light installations, the Grande roué, the 20th anniversary of the Nuit blanche experience, and plenty of free activities.

2022 Montreal en Lumiere Festival

Festival organizers recently unveiled its line-ups for the gastronomic and a portion of its artistic programming. On the gastronomic side, under the theme of “Montreal is Inviting You Over!”, 40 noted Montreal restaurants and venues will host a number of internationally-renowned and local chefs and producers, as they ply their culinary talents to Montreal foodies. Events include the Air France Finest Tables, Couette and Gastronomie Packages, Les Aperos Montreal en Lumiere and the Quartier Gourmand that will take place in the halls of Place des Arts.

On the artistic side, some of the shows that will be presented at the festival include the Riopelle Symphonique (February 16-18), the Triplettes de Belleville cine-concert to mark the animated feature’s 20th anniversary (February 26), 1969 Live (March 4), and Bedouin Soundclash (February 25).

And while we’re on the subject of Montreal festivals, 2023 will mark the 25th anniversary of the Blue Metropolis literary festival, which will take place from April 27 – 30. To get its silver anniversary edition off to an early start, organizers unveiled the three local authors who will be its 2023 spokespeople. They are actor/writer Gabrielle Boulianne-Tremblay, poet/translator/editor David Bradford, and popular YA author and journalist Monique Polak. The 25th anniversary edition of Blue Metropolis, which will have as its theme “The Future”, will announce its full programming line-up on March 22.
