Quebec’s first-ever MiLP Pickleball tournaments are coming to Montreal

Massive pickleball tournament coming to Montreal

MTL Pickleball will also host Picklepalooza August 9

MONTREAL, QC – July 15, 2025 — Pickleball is here to stay! In fact it is one of the hottest fitness crazes right now it seems–so hot that for the first time in Quebec history, Minor League Pickleball (MiLP) action is landing in the province — and it’s all happening at MTL Pickleball, Montreal’s go-to Pickleball destination. On Saturday, July 19, 2025, local teams will battle it out for a golden ticket: a direct pathway to compete in the U.S. Minor League Pickleball Tournament, with the ultimate prize of a $100,000 USD grand cash prize up for grabs.

Winning team will represent Canada

This milestone event is not just a tournament — it’s an official Canadian gateway to international pickleball glory. Now that’s a mouthful! The winning team from MTL Pickleball’s inaugural MiLP event will represent Canada on the global stage, facing off against top players from the United States and around the world. The road to becoming a global pickleball champion starts here in Montreal.

Four MLiP sanctioned events at MTL Pickleball

The July 19 tournament is the first of four sanctioned MLiP events scheduled at MTL Pickleball:

  • July 19, 2025
  • August 23, 2025
  • September 14, 2025
  • October 26, 2025

Official pathway to the Canadian National Pickleball League (CNPL)

These events form part of The Dink Minor League Pickleball Canada, now recognized as the official pathway to the Canadian National Pickleball League (CNPL) — Canada’s premier professional pickleball league. Participation also opens doors to qualify for the prestigious Pickleball World Cup, connecting Canadian players to the rapidly growing international scene.

“This is a groundbreaking moment for pickleball in Quebec,” said Jon Wijtman, co-founder at MTL Pickleball. “We are thrilled to give our local athletes the opportunity to not only compete at a national level, but to join the international conversation and represent our province with pride.”

Picklepalooza coming to MTL

In addition to the upcoming tournaments, MTL Pickleball will also host its much-anticipated National Pickleball Day community celebration, Picklepalooza, on August 9, 2025. Designed for players and fans of all ages, Picklepalooza will feature beginner and pro clinics, open play, music, food trucks, live entertainment, and family-friendly fun — making it one of Montreal’s must-attend summer events.

Why This Matters:

  • Official U.S. Pathway: The event provides Quebec players with access to the U.S.-based Minor League Pickleball system via The Dink and DUPR rankings.
  • Multiple Elite Pathways: Athletes can advance toward:
    • The Dink Minor League Pickleball Finals (USA)
    • Canadian National Pickleball League (CNPL)
    • Pickleball World Cup
  • Historic First for Quebec: A major step in bringing international pickleball recognition to local players.
  • Community Engagement: Picklepalooza brings the sport to the wider public and fosters grassroots development.
