The STM have released a statement that the TM Metro stations will no longer accept cash in the coming year.
The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) released a statement saying as of February 2022, payment at the Metro booths will only be made by credit card or debit card. As of February 7, 2022 cash will only be accepted at automatic ticket machines.
The STM stated they will start a communication campaign to support the change to customers as the automatic ticket vending machines are updated. This decision by The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) was made in the evolution of customers needs.
The STM say approximately 50 more points of sale will be added near Metro stations throughout 2022. These new locations will be added to map on the STM’s website.
