Toronto Maple Leafs Captain John Tavares has been released from St. Michael’s Hospital after being checked out and thoroughly examined by neurological team of doctors and the Toronto Maple Leafs club medical director.
John Tavares was struck in the head by Montreal Canadiens Corey Perry’s knee. Tavares was visibly shaken up on the ice and removed by a stretcher. As Tavares was being wheeled off Canadiens Corey Perry went up and tapped Johnny on the legs to say sorry.

The Toronto Maple Leafs official Twitter page released a statement, “Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares has been discharged this morning after serious examination.”

Perry said in a media briefing after the game he tried to avoid Tavares at the last second. ” I didn’t know what else to do. I tried to jump out of the way. I know Johnny pretty well and I just hope he is ok.”
The Montreal Canadiens won the first game 2-1 and play the Toronto Maple Leafs in Toronto tomorrow night for game 2.
