The perfect short Atlanta weekend

Atlanta

Atlanta – There are around 5.7 million residents and half a dozen Fortune 500 firms in Metro Atlanta. Yet when did you listen to a relative or coworker schedule a holiday there for the last time? Given its plentiful museums and visitor sites, thriving restaurant scenery and wide-ranging greenery and reasonable affordability, the desirable visitors still skip Atlanta to Nashville or Charleston. (Weddings and business conferences do not count.) The best the town has to give is discussed in the article so that you don’t have an issue planning the perfect weekend.

Week days are obviously hectic for people and for the residents working to make a living. Whether you want to give time to your family or simply hang out with your friends and partner, it is compulsory that you devote some time during the week for yourself and for the ones who mean a lot to you.

Whether you plan for camping near Atlanta or simply go and explore the city, there is literally a lot that you can do – and that too without getting bored.

The perfect weekend in Atlanta begins here!

A touch of European breakfast

Begin your weekend right at the Bread & Butterfly, a not too busy European bistro from Cakes & Ale’s, Billy and Kristin Allin, with expertly scrambled eggs; cold shot tricks and mountain pastries.

Start by exploring the Atlanta Beltline

The Beltline is one of the most complex revitalization initiatives in the South and a former rail corridor converted into a multi-use pathway and a green environment. While some of it is still being built, it will connect 45 communities across 22 miles until completed.

At the Beltline with a bit of caffeine

You want an early start (preferably one weekday), because it is so popular with bikers, joggers, dog-walkers and visitors. But first it is compulsory to try a Stump town fix at Chrome Yellow Coffee + Dry Goods. Take a look at the shop in the back of the patio and enjoy your drink in the sunlight-perfect Instagram Mable spot.

Perfect short Atlanta weekend

Explore the market

The next place is a paid gravel car park in the Krog Street Market, which is a food hall located in a factory of the 1920s. Lunch is OK, but it’s not until you check two shops outside: The Cooperative and The Merchant. The first has a superb selection of Southeast Succulents French pastoral furnishings and desert plants; the latter sells Rifle Paper Co. and One Canoe Two paper mills.

Steaks and tarts for lunch

You can’t beat Fred’s Meat & Bread’s ribeye cheesesteak, Hop City’s local sign and The Little Tart Bakeshop’s salted caramel almond tart for lunch. Travel west by taking the Eastside Trail Beltline that is located just outside the Krog Street Market and heads north to Inman Park.

Gaze at the Wonders of Art

Look for substantial art installations, such as the art of healing by William Massey III, and street art murals underneath the New Fourth Ward skate park.

Ponce City Market

The next stop is approximately 30 minutes away. Ponce City Market, another shopping / food space from the developers who were responsible for the Chelsea Market in New York City. You will enjoy a second lunch like fried catfish tacos and other southern delights at Sean Brock’s Minero, Indian street food at Meherwan Irani’s Botiwalla, or just drop in for a latte at Hugh Acheson’s Spiller Park Coffee).

Ponce City Market is recognized as being very impressive by various brands of well-known products (West Elm, Anthropology and Williams-Sonoma).

The large market for multi-sellers provides small-scale goods to hundreds of independent craftsmen, including Teysha, an ethical boot company from Austin, TX, and Billiam Jeans, a Greenville, South Carolina, jeans expert. Back at Beltline, head north to Paris

In Ponce City Market, lies a vintage emporium under one roof with more than 30 vendors. Highlights feature limited edition art prints and mystic Still Life books, Absinthe’s new taxidermy and Gun Street Goods Southwest Coachella retro.

Piedmont Park

Continue on walking and finally you will reach Piedmont Park. This is recognized as the Central Park reaction by Atlanta. Think: more bike and walking trails, a peaceful park, grounds to fly kites and Frisbees, and great views to the center of the city.

Krog Street Market

You’ve got a two miles walk back to the Krog Street Market where you can dive into the Superica puffy Tacos, the bouncy Tex-Mex Shack at ATL’s Ford Fry, or try one of the famous local restaurants. Ammazza is nirvana for Neapolitan pizzas and artisan beers. Staple house is a fancy event with a delicious à la carte menu.

Decatur

Next and last night stop: Decatur, a leafy suburb just east of the city Centre. It’s the Mayberry of Atlanta Metro, where 20,000 people live in Mayberry with many award-winning restaurants. Get a sense of the city by walking the blocks around the park, which is tree-lined.

Families with young children are gathered here every night, cheering on local bands or performing soldiers. Far beyond, the old train depot of the city, the city hall, the lodges of the Masons and historical churches can be seen.

There are plenty of dinner choices but why not getting out with a knock in Kimball Restaurant, oyster and absinthe retailer, and a James Beard winner twice. Atlanta does have a lot of food options to try from. You can go from fancy to simple in a jiffy.

Final words – You will never get bored in Atlanta

With a city that has to offer so many things for the residents, Atlanta never ceases to disappoint the people looking for a perfect spot as a weekend whether you are looking forward to camping near Atlanta or simply going out for shopping. Try the famous Atlanta Beltline if you want to spend an active weekend exploring the markets that are multi-purpose and comprise of some of the greatest designers and restaurants.

If you are looking forward to a nice dinner, consider visiting the Kimball restaurant and taste the goodies that this southern Atlantic state has to offer.
