These days it is very fashionable to drink wine. From Instagramers to the average customer at your local SAQ in the suburbs, almost everybody enjoys a glass of vino and in this article I would like to show you some white wines worth drinking.
There is an invisible pecking order among wine consumers. At the top of the strata are the ultimate connoisseurs sharing the spot with the new wine natural wine intelligentsia. Then, there are those wine newbies who are discovering their taste. At the bottom, there are people who simply want to drink something, not caring a great deal for quality.
My personal journey to wine has been the ability to climb through these wine echelons and learn the positive and negative aspects of each from them. My wine self awareness is defined by my experience on each of the wine stratas. There are times when I only seek the comfort of the bottom stages without asking myself too many questions. There are other times, when I seek a more enlightened state as I move into the upper echelons. To be honest to myself, it is a mix of both knowledge and prestige. An undeniable truth is that we are defined by what we drink. There is a certain empowerment when we open a certain wine bottle. If you think it in pragmatic terms, wine is an instrument of social mobility.
At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is what we truly enjoy. However, accepting it is a whole different story. You must remember that it is only a reflection of our own insecurities as a wine drinker. Be proud of what you truly enjoy.
I leave you to reflect on that with these white wines worth drinking:

Quinta De Gomariz Alvarinho 2019 – SAQ # 11895225 – $23.35
Nuances of lemon and pineapple with a hint of coconut cream. Very summery wine. Round and wavy, love its creamy texture. Retronasal flavours bring to mind flavours of ripe peaches. Perfect crisp finale.

La Fille Couillaud Lord de la Ragotière Val de Loire Sauvignon 2019 – SAQ # 13587947 – $16.15
A nose that can be defined with touches of lemon and black pepper. It is slightly herbal as well. On the palate, the wine has a crisp acidity. Top buy.

Otazu Ozu Chardonnay Navarra 2019 – SAQ # 14321913 – $14.95
Pear sorbet, lemon. A bit spicy as well. Complementary aromas bring to mind ground cherries. On the palate, the wine has a charming acidity. One of the most elegant Chardonnays I ever tasted at the SAQ.
