Gilles Villeneuve to be celebrated with film and tribute zone at Montreal Auto Show

MONTREAL, December 23, 2025 – To highlight the theatrical release scheduled for 2026 of the feature film VILLENEUVE : L’ASCENSION D’UNE LÉGENDE, the Montreal Auto Show, presented by iA Auto and Home Insurance and taking place from January 16 to 25, 2026, at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, will offer visitors a tribute zone entirely dedicated to one of the greatest drivers in the history of Quebec motorsports. Titled The Gilles Villeneuve Universe, this exclusive space will be accessible throughout the duration of the event.

True immersion into the world of Gilles Villeneuve

Designed as a true immersion into the world and legacy of Gilles Villeneuve, The Gilles Villeneuve Universe will allow the public to discover or rediscover the exceptional career of this legendary driver through a selection of artifacts, archival photographs, and content illustrating his influence on the world of motorsport. Visitors will also be able to see the cars used during the filming of the movie, including a reproduction of the iconic Ferrari T2. Items from the Gilles Villeneuve boutique will be available for purchase on site.

A Highly Anticipated Film and a Major Revival of a Legacy

This initiative comes in the context of the release of the film VILLENEUVE : L’ASCENSION D’UNE LÉGENDE, directed by Yan Lanouette Turgeon, written by Daniel Roby and Guillaume Lonergan, produced by Christian Larouche, and distributed by Les Films Opale and Entract Films. The feature film, which will be released in theatres across Quebec in 2026, stars Rémi Goulet as Gilles Villeneuve and Rosalie Bonenfant as his wife, Joann Villeneuve. It traces the meteoric rise of a young Quebecer from a modest background who became a global icon of motorsport.

Beyond the film, this tribute also takes shape through GV27 – the Gilles Villeneuve Initiative, whose goal is to revive the legacy of the driver and the man by sharing his essence with Quebec and international audiences. Through the strategic use of digital and technological platforms, GV27 aims to create a lasting connection between Gilles Villeneuve’s legacy and current and future generations.
