Rando Velo Beneva to complement UCI 2026 Road World Championships
The world of competitive cycling will be making its way to Montreal later this year, as the UCI 2026 Road World Championships will take place here from September 20-27. As well, cycling enthusiasts will have the chance to experience this event firsthand on September 19, with the Rando Velo Beneva.
“This will be the largest cycling event to happen in Montreal since the 1976 Summer Olympics,” said Joseph Limaire, who is the Executive Director of the Local Organizing Committee of the 2026 UCI Road World Championships, during a recent gathering at Parc Jean-Drapeau to officially announce the event.

The Rando Velo Beneva is open to participants of all ages, amateurs and elites, either solo, groups or families across the Greater Montreal Area. They will have the option to ride along the official time trial courses from the starting point at the corner of Avenue du Parc and Mount Royal Avenue in the 10, 20, 40 or 70 kilometre distance categories. “Although we will welcome the cycling world, the Rando Velo Beneva will not only promote sports as a means toward a healthy lifestyle, but also a festive atmosphere amongst all communities in Montreal,” added Mr. Limaire.
Registration fees range from $5 to $40 and 6,000 spots are now available; however, it was announced at the press conference that 1,000 registrations were already received earlier that day.

Also on hand at the press conference were Geneviev Tardif, Montreal 2026 event ambassador; Martin Robert and Jean Routhier from Beneva, the event’s title sponsor; Antoine Duchesne, UCI Road World Championships Montreal 2026 Ambassador, plus representatives from the governments of Montreal, Quebec and Canada.
