Geordie Theatre, Montreal’s premiere professional English-language theatre company for young audiences for nearly 40 years, is now holding its second annual Geordie Theatre Fest, which runs from now until February 10 at the Studio Hydro Quebec of the Monument National Theatre, located at 1182 St. Laurent Boulevard.

For this year’s fest, Geordie Theatre will feature three productions that will cater to all age groups of children (and their families). One Thing Leads to Another is the first show that Geordie is presenting for children of baby age (3 to 24 months). Created by Maja Ardel, the show includes music, visuals, and tactile experiences that turns everyday objects into wonderful phenomena for babies and their adult companions; the 60-minute show also includes a 30-minute period of interactive playtime with the objects that are used during the production.

Little Witch is geared for children 6 years of age and up, is one of the plays that is part of Geordie’s 2Play Tour this season that plays before 35,000 children across Quebec, Ontario and the Maritimes. Translated from the French-language play Petite Sorciere, the show is a charming fable that deals with a little witch who is forced to live with an ogre, and must face a difficult personal choice when a hunter boy happens to stumble upon the home where she and the ogres lives in.

The In-Between, which is for teen audiences ages 13 and up, is by Canadian playwright Marcus Youssef, who wrote the critically-acclaimed 2014 play Jabber, which played at Geordie to a great degree of success. This contemporary relevant play deals with three teenagers, one of whom is a Syrian refugee, are involved in a conflict over a series of anti-Muslim memes, and as a result of a misunderstanding, a lockdown at their school takes place.

Tickets for any of the three shows that are part of this year’s Geordie Theatre Fest are $19.50 each, $17.50 for students and seniors, $15 for teens, $13.50 for children and free of charge for babies. For more information, or to purchase tickets, call 514-845-9810 or go to www.geordie.ca.
