Apparently, the Mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante and her cabinet would like to raise an additional $11 million in revenue with raising parking tickets around the city of Montreal.
The new parking increases are to be tabled in the February city council meeting for adaption.
The Montreal’s opposition party says making the city’s parking signs easier to read should be the priority.
This all going on when most Montreal city streets are vacant. Driving down streets like Sherbrooke, Ste. Catherine and Saint Denis all showing signs for rent.
The new parking ticket increase will be from $1 to $79. For example, if you park in a handicap spot of a reserved bus land your ticket will be north of $300. This is Montreal’s third raise in parking tickets over the last two years.
