train show

The wait is finally over for the Sun Youth Annual Model Train Show, a fundraiser for the organization’s sports and recreation programs. The event which was previously held in the Plateau Mont-Royal since 1988 is moving this year to the West-Island with the help of Dorval Mayor Edgar Rouleau. For the first time ever the expo is going to be held at The Dorval Arena, 1450 Dawson Ave. Dorval, on Saturday and Sunday (May 25th and 26th).

Featuring dozens of exhibitors and fun activities for the whole family, the show boasts the largest collection in North America of model railroads that children can operate. Trains can be bought and sold at the show, which provides ideas and stimulates the creative mind of model railroading fans. There will also be books, new and used, and videos for sale along with collectibles, scenic materials and lots of free advice on how to create and enjoy your very own world in miniature.

This family event starts at 10:00 am on Saturday and Sunday. The Dorval Arena will be overflowing with wonders and treasures that visitor young and old will most certainly enjoy discovering. Returning this year are original model railroads from the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950’s and 1960’s, giving a historical view of model railroads from the 1890’s to the present. To the children’s delight, there will also be historical and thematic sets, as well as famous and collectors sets featuring popular characters like Thomas the Tank Engine and Harry Potter. This show offers an opportunity for participants to leave the stress behind and is a welcome escape from the encroaching digital world most people live in.
