Six Canadian holiday cocktail recipes – We have less than two months until the holiday season begins. As it approaches, Canadians across the country are booking their holiday getaways and Marriott International properties across welcoming visitors with handcrafted holiday cocktails. That being said, Marriott understands that a lot of celebrating happens at home so some of the hotel brand’s most famed bar chefs have given up coveted recipes to share with your guests this season!

 Below, you will find a release with that details key cocktail recipes from six handpicked hotels across the country. You can make it at home or head to one of the hotels to try some of the most delicious drinks this season! 

TORONTO – The holiday season is around the corner and it’s time people start thinking about their holiday entertaining Marriott International is sharing recipes of some of its most popular and unique handcrafted cocktails from properties across the country to help you get into the holiday spirit. Marriott International’s seasoned bartenders are known to think outside the box when it comes to creating cocktail masterpieces. it’s part of the international hotel company’s mission to reinvigorate, elevate and transform the food & beverage experience for guests around the world by increasing its focus of surpassing the gold standard in the food and beverage (F&B) industry across its 30 brands. 

 Marriott International’s extensive global footprint, historical culinary roots, top tier talent and innovative ideation has contributed to the hotel brands becoming the largest F&B group in the world, revealed Don Cleary, President of Marriott Hotels of Canada. Marriott began as a root beer stand in 1927, growing into the global hotel and hospitality company it is today. We are returning to our original roots by focusing on elevating the F&B experience, and these are some of my favourite cocktails from a selection of our 230 Canadian properties.

Highlighted below are six Canadian handcrafted cocktails created by Marriott International bartenders at hotels across the country, that can be enjoyed on your next trip or recreated at home this holiday season.

ONTARIO – JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka

As Canada’s first JW Marriott Resort & Spa, this Ontario luxury resort welcomes guests to natural, unspoiled surroundings. The Rosseau is set on a granite bluff overlooking tranquil Lake Rosseau.

Guests can unwind from fall to winter with a weekend getaway featuring the Bala Cranberry Infused Cosmo. Using local cranberries from the nearby cranberry marsh at Muskoka Lakes Farm and Winery, cranberries are harvested each fall, making for a stunning colour combination with a sea of red coloured cranberries and the fall weather transforming lush, green forests into fiery foliage.

Bala Cranberry Infused Cosmo Ingredients

  • Bala cranberry and orange infused Smirnoff vodka Cointreau
  • lime juice
  • house-made cranberry syrup Johnston’s cranberry juice
  • Carroll & Co cranberry bitters

ALBERTA The Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, An Autograph Collection Hotel

Signature Cocktail Selection: Smore’s Old Fashioned

Ingredients:

  • graham cracker
  • marshmallow
  • cedar smoked honey cinnamon syrup
  • Aztec chocolate bitters (fee brothers)
  • Angostura bitters
  • Makers Mark
  • Highland Park Scotch 18 year
  • 2 dashes of Aztec chocolate bitters
  • 1 dash angostura bitters
  • 0.25 oz cedar smoked honey cinnamon syrup (or to the taste of the guest)
  • 1.75 oz Makers Mark
  • 0.25 oz Highland Park Scotch 18 year

Preparation: Stir all ingredients in a mixing glass and strain into a brandy snifter over an ice sphere.

Garnish: Graham cracker with a Highland Park Scotch 18 year spritzed torched marshmallow on a cedar plank. Light the marshmallow on fire with the graham cracker base and well still on fire put the graham cracker marshmallow combination upside down over top of the brandy snifter glass.

 Calgary: The Westin Calgary

The truly Canadian way to enjoy the holidays is with Canada’s favourite morning cocktail, the Ceasar, invented at Westin Calgary. Found inside Liquid Lounge, a lively location all season long, The Westin Calgary’s Signature Caesar cocktail uses a local vodka from Eau Claire Distillery, Alberta’s first independent craft distillery.

Westin Calgary Signature Caesar Cocktail

  • Rim a 16oz stemmed glass with lime and then dip into celery salt
  • Fill glass with lots of ice, 4 dashes Worcestershire, a couple dashes of your favourite hot sauce
  • Measure 2oz of local Eau Claire Distillery Vodka add to glass
  • Pour 6-8oz Walter Craft Clamato Juice, top with fresh ground pepper, Stir
  • Garnish and stir with celery stalk, add lime wedge to rim.

SASKATCHEWAN: Hotel Saskatchewan, An Autograph Collection Hotel, Regina SK

Hotel Sask Cocktail

  • ¾ oz Canadian Club Chairmen’s Club 100% rye
  • ¾ oz Crown Royal Northern Harvest 95% rye
  • ½ oz fresh lemon juice
  • ½ oz honey syrup
  • 3 dashes of Angostura bitters
  • 3 dashes house orange bitters

Garnish with expressed lemon.

QUEBEC: W Montreal

W Montreal is nestled in the historic Banque du Canada building, placing you just steps away from picturesque Old Montreal and a multitude of exciting downtown attractions and things to do. The hotels cozy lounge, Bartizen, specializes in Quebec gins and craft perfumes.

Romeo’s G&T&P

Ingredients:

  • 1.5oz   Romeo’s Gin (Quebec Gin)
  • 5oz      Fever Tree Tonic (or any other high-quality tonic)
  • 1 un.    Lavender perfume recipe

Preparation:

  • Pour Romeo’s gin on ice
  • Add Fever Tree Tonic
  • Garnish with cucumber slices and fresh dill
  • Spray the glass with lavender perfume (about 3/4 times)

 How to make Lavender Perfume:

  • Add 4 dash of edible lavender essential oil to 2oz (60ml) of vodka
  • Pour into a spray bottle

  • .5oz Cointreau
  • .5oz Blanc Vermouth
  • .5oz Sweet Vermouth
  • 3 Drops Orange Juniper Bittered Sling Bitters 
  • Dehydrated Orange & Douglas Fir Trip for garnish
