Champlain Bridge lights up rainbow colours tonight to mark the start of no curfew

Champlain Bridge lights up

Tonight, the Samuel De Champlain Bridge will light up with rainbow colours to mark the start of deconfinement in Montreal and elsewhere in Quebec. The illumination will take place from sunset until 9:30 p.m.

Champlain Bridge lights up

“From the early days of the pandemic, the Samuel De Champlain Bridge has been a symbol of support for Montrealers and for all Canadians, and has underlined solidarity and resilience through its special displays of light. The bridge will light up once again today in the colours of the rainbow to mark the beginning of lockdown measures easing in Quebec, which has been made possible through the public’s hard work to comply with health measures and get vaccinated.”

—The Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities

Note: After the special illumination concludes at 9:30 p.m., the architectural lighting will return to the blue and green shades used during the birds’ migratory period, which runs until June 15.
