Montreal has another unexpected visitor in the water near the Montreal Biosphere. The mammal is a Minke whale and has unfortunately lost its way.
Experts are hoping the whale will find its way back down the Saint-Lawrence river.
The minke whale was first seen this past Sunday between Île Sainte-Hèléne and Île Notre-Dame near Parc Jean-Drapeau.
If you remember back in 2020 around the same time we reported a humpback whale that lost his way and graced Montrealers for a few weeks before he was found dead.
The whale would be safer in salt water and runs the risk of being hit by a boat.
Experts do not have any reason for the what in these waters but the speculate the whale was chasing fish and got distracted and lost or is disoriented because it’s sick.
The goal now is to keep a close eye on the whale and hope it finds it’s way home safely.
