Premier nudges toward limited gatherings over the holidays

limited gatherings over the holidays

In the coming days Quebec Premier François Legault will be giving us the guidelines for limited gatherings for the holidays as the pandemic seems to be stabilized over the province, even though the last seven days, numbers of new cases of COVID-19 on average are over 1,000 cases.

“We’ll announce our plan soon to allow everyone to prepare, however we must be in a good position in December,” said the Premier.

At this given time nothing has been finalized but the government is planning on extending the school break after the holidays to reduce the number of contacts after the holiday season. “Shutting the schools before the break would be more difficult, seeing that people are busy preparing for the holidays,” said Quebec Premier François Legault.

Since the beginning of the pandemic and first lock down in mid March the cases of COVID-19 have never been higher at an average of over 1,200 cases in the past few days. June, July and August had numbers below 170 new cases a day. Restaurants and bars, gyms were open and numbers were not out of control. The numbers have spiked since schools reopened.
