Volunteer West Island is opening a new Meals on Wheels kitchen in Dollard-des-Ormeaux with the gracious collaboration of the City of DDO and the Sports, Leisure and Culture Department. The official inauguration of DDO’s Meals on Wheels kitchen will be on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, at 11:00 am. The 15 minute ceremony will consist of an official ribbon-cutting, as well as the presentation of the members of the new DDO Meals on Wheels Steering Committee. Some of the 40 registered volunteer cooks, drivers, and deliverers will be on hand, ready to deliver!
Meals on Wheels volunteers have been delivering food and smiles to hundreds of seniors on the West Island for 50 years. With 13 MOW kitchens now operating across the West Island and the Borough of Lachine, MOW will be able to surpass the number of 43,000 hot meals delivered in 2017-2018.
Meals on Wheels promotes the quality of life and breaks the isolation of seniors living a situation of vulnerability by providing security checks and a home-cooked, nutritious meal.
