Being married to an Italian is extremely challenging when you want to dine at an Italian Restaurant. Obviously you eat the best Italian food at home. Well, let me enlighten you, Pizzeria Napoletana in Little Italy is like eating at Nonna’s house. The restaurant is famous for its homemade pasta, pizza, delicious desserts, espresso, the list goes on. Bonus! Pizzeria Napoletana is BYOB Montreal Italian restaurant.

How many restaurants can boast about being open since 1948, Pizzeria Napoletana at 189 Rue Dante, Montreal, Quebec, H2S 1K1 earns that title. As soon as you walk in Pizzeria Napoletana the fresh aroma of garlic, cheese, Italian fine herbs touch your taste buds.
Before the world changed due to COVID-19 and restaurants in Montreal had to find a new way to survive, we were greeted by friendly staff and were escorted to our table and served Italian fresh bread with cold water as we mulled through the extensive menu of Italian cuisine.

We began with Antipasto Napoletana, (capicollo, salami, anchovies, olives, cheese (provolone), articokes, hearts of palms, capes, tomatoes. The Antipasto is just the right size to wet your appetite until the main course arrives.

Then we proceeded with the Pizza Margherita, (Mozzarella, tomato sauce). The reason for this basic choice was we wanted to taste the tomato sauce with no other distractions. Being over 40 pizzas on the menu, you can image there is every kind of creation. The Margherita did not let me down as being one of the best pizzas I have had in my entire life. Thin amazing crust, mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce on the top, (I just ate it and my mouth is watering as I write this, mmmm).

The second main dish we tried was Gnocchi Fiorentina, a cream, tomato sauce with parmesan cheese. The Gnocchi was cooked to perfection light and fluffy. The sauce speaks for itself and when looking at the dish, you see freshness made with love.

The dessert menu and assorted coffees were ample, we had a cappuccino (which was smooth and had a nice foam cap), espresso (with a beautiful cream on top) and a large cannoli, which could be shared by two.
If you enjoy food as much as we do at the Mtl Times I am sure you have heard the stories about the line-ups at 189 Rue Dante, Pizza Napoletana. Well yes there are line-ups but they move fast, waiting a few minutes for this experience is well worth it and incredibly satisfying.
The atmosphere is loud and fun with TV’s in the background showing the Blue Jays game or in winter the Habs. Sit back order your meal and enjoy the experience Pizzeria Napoletana offers. This amazing restaurant is a landmark in this city of great cuisine. ( Hopefully we will be allowed back in soon however in the meantime uber delivers.)
