Pointe-Claire, Quebec, August 27, 2025 — The Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation is proud to announce that its 4th Annual Dragon Boat Race raised $160,000 on Saturday (August 23, 2025) in support of the Hospital’s Oncology Department.
With the largest turnout yet of 15 boats and a vibrant community spirit, the event brought together hundreds of paddlers, families, and supporters at the Lachine Canal for a day filled with teamwork, competition, and generosity. The proceeds will directly support patient care and vital oncology services at Lakeshore General Hospital.
The Foundation extends its deepest gratitude to sponsor Bombardier, as well as all participants, volunteers, donors, and community partners who contributed to the success of the event.
“The energy on the water and the generosity of our community were truly inspiring,” said Nathalie Kamel, Managing Director of the Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation. “Every dollar raised will have a direct impact on cancer patients and their families, helping us provide the best possible care close to home. We are so grateful to everyone who came together to make this day unforgettable.”
The day featured a traditional Lion Dance symbolizing good luck, prosperity, and happiness, a moving flower ceremony honouring those touched by cancer, music played by Cousin Vinny from Virgin Radio, delicious food trucks, and friendly competition that highlighted the strength and compassion of the West Island community.
The Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation looks forward to building on this momentum for next year’s Dragon Boat Race, continuing its mission to support patient care, purchase state-of-the-art equipment, and fund innovative projects at the Hospital.
About the Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation
Founded in 1964, the Foundation’s mandate is to collect the necessary funds to improve patient care at the Lakeshore General Hospital. In this way, it contributes to the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment and major structural renovations and assists in supporting programs and specialized training for the professional staff, providing funding to initiatives not supported by the government.
