Celebrate diversity with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts at the Montreal Pride Festival

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) is proud to partner with the Montreal Pride Festival for a fourth year, joining once again in the celebration of sexual and gender diversity. The Museum is inviting the public to a participatory catwalk on Avenue du Musee on Wednesday, August 14, a visit to the Thierry Mugler:Couturissime exhibition, and, of course the Pride Parade on Sunday, August 18.

5@9  Strut the Catwalk! -Wednesday, August 14th – 5 to 9 pm 

As part of the festival programme, don your favourite outfit and strut your stuff at the ephemeral installation Strut the Catwalk! on Avenue du Musee. Prefer to stay in the shadows? Come cheer on the participants while enjoying a beautiful summer evening in the heart of the museum complex. The free participatory fashion show, hosted by a surprise guest, will take place from 6 to 7 pm, to the sounds of DJ FRIGID. A cash bar will be available to participants. Online registration required for participation in the fashion show (Spots limited).

MMFA Montreal Pride Parade

Pride Parade 2019 – Sunday, August 18, 1 to 4 pm

The MMFA will march through the streets of Montreal with members of the LGBTQ+ community, artists and friends from every culture. With the participation of Never Apart, 50 artists from the Wiggle Festival, accompanied by 200 marchers, will surround the Museum’s float, featuring the colours of creations in the Thierry Mugler: Couturissime exhibitionThe only museum in the parade, the MMFA will inspire marchers with the rhythms of DJ Fecal Matter â€“ whose creations grace the Montreal Couture exhibition – and models decked out in an homage to Mugler.

Thierry Mugler: Couturissime and Montreal Couture – Until September 8, 2019

Over 200,000 visitors have fallen under the spell of Thierry Mugler: Couturissime. Drawing from the multiple creative worlds of the visionary couturier, director, photographer and perfumer, this major exhibition plunges the viewer into pop culture spanning the 1970s to today. It is a feast for the eyes with some 150 outfits, numerous photographs, archival documents and never-before seen sketches.

Visitors can round out their experience with Montreal Couture, and get an up-close look at the work of local designers. This exhibition brings together the creations of established and emerging talent who, each in their unique way, are redefining contemporary Quebec fashion.
