Throughout most of this summer, Montrealers will be seeing some familiar faces on billboards, BIXI stations, buses, as well as local television stations Radio-Canada and CTV Montreal, in promotion and support of one of Montreal’s most prominent charitable organizations that helps the city’s most vulnerable citizens.
The Welcome Hall Mission has just recently launched its awareness campaign for this spring and summer. And like the first phase of the campaign, which ran this past fall and winter, it will utilize a number of prominent Montreal personalities, who will spread the message that Montrealers are there to help their fellow Montrealers who are in need, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as give a face to those who go the extra length by donating their time and resources to a number of charitable organizations, as well as those clients and individuals who directly benefit from their efforts.
Some of the local personalities who are part of the new phase of the Welcome Hall Mission’s campaign include CTV Montreal weather specialist Lori Graham, broadcasters Leslie Roberts and Anne-Marie Wittenshaw, Canadian Olympic track & field gold medalist Bruny Surin, journalist Jamie Orchard, and TVA Sports host and former CF Montreal captain Patrice Bernier.
The campaign is being done with the collaboration of OUTFRONT, the sponsorship of the Home Depot, and support from a number of Montreal media outlets.
Founded in 1892, the Welcome Hall Mission is an organization that gives much-needed help to people who are dealing with such serious personal crises as poverty, homelessness, job and food insecurity and mental health issues. This is accomplished through a number of programs like a free dental clinic, two free “Marche Bon Accueuil” grocery stores, the “Coeur a soeur” program that aids over 100 pregnant and new mothers every year, and the newly-launched “Programme Bienvenue”, which deals with the issue of chronic homelessness by helping people move into permanent housing, thereby eliminating or reducing the need for emergency shelters.
