Montreal’s Italian week is in full swing

This weekend, Montreal’s Italian week is in full swing and is celebrating its 26th edition in the heart of Little Italy, to the delight of its festival-goers. Italian culture will be honoured by the merchants, and entertainment will occupy the street. Moreover, the terraces and festive atmosphere will awaken the boulevard Saint-Laurent, between the streets Jean-Talon and Beaubien.

Friday, August 16, the Jean-Talon stage at 4:30p.m. by the pianist Enzo De Rosa accompanied by the soprano Isabelle Metwalli. The show will continue with Whammo Music artists at 5:30p.m., December Rose at 6:00p.m. and Marco Bocchicchio at 7:00p.m.. On the Mastro & San Daniele stage, Peppe Voltarelli will launch the evening at 8:00p.m., followed by Italian Week’s spokesperson Marco Calliari at 9:30p.m..

Saturday ,August 17, you can discover the heritage of Little Italy through the historic circuits of Amarrages sans frontières and take part in the scopa tournament. The Jean-Talon stage will host the following artists: Marco Sanelli at 3:00p.m., Alexander D’Alesio at 4:00p.m., New Voices at 5:00p.m.,VAN at 6:00p.m., and Michael DiRe at 7:00p.m.. On the Mastro & San Daniele stage, the evening will begin with singer Daniela Fiorentino at 8:00p.m., followed by comedian Joe Cacchione at 9:30p.m., and concluding Saturday’s festivities at 10:00p.m. will be the Moda Sottole Stelle fashion show that will be show casing the collections of Italian-Canadian designers.

Sunday, August 18, the day will begin with the dessert contest hosted by comedian Joe Cacchione at 2:00p.m.on the Jean-Talon stage. At 4:00p.m., the singer Sandrine Fragasso will be on stage, followed by Ari Skye and Charles Vaccaro at 4:30p.m., Super Fantastico at 5:00p.m., Marco Sanelli at 6:00p.m., and Sophist Occasion Show band at 7:00p.m. On the Mastro & San Daniele stage, the winner of the Italian Week draw will be announced at 8:30 p.m..The closing performance will be at 9:00p.m. with Ruggiero Leoncavallo’s opera Pagliacci, accompanied by the symphonic orchestra led by Maestro Gianluca Martinenghi.

Throughout the weekend, many exhibitors and artists will animate the boulevard Saint-Laurent. You can participate in a treasure hunt organized in collaboration with Missions Morpheus: Montreal Escape Games and Commedia dell’arte theater workshops.

Close to the De Castelnau and Jean-Talon metro stations and with many bus routes running through it, the Little Italy site is easily accessible by public transport and even by BIXI.
