A Scrub is what you need to cleanse your body – Earth to Body

Scrub

A scrub cleanses the body and exfoliates the dead cells. The result: smooth, healthier and softer skin. Brushes, mitts, loofahs, pumice stones, micro derma rollers or microneedling are other forms of exfoliation, but a good scrub can exfoliate and nourish the skin simultaneously.

A customer confessed recently that he’d never used our scrub before, but tried it and “Wow!”  he exclaimed, “What have I been missing all these years?” as he ran his hand over his smoothly shaved face.

A Scrub is what you need to cleanse your body – Earth to Body

There are salt scrubs, sugar scrubs, coffee scrubs, banana/sugar and honey scrubs milk, and more endless concoctions.

We chose to make a salt scrub as salts do contain essential minerals (sodium chloride, iron, magnesium potassium, calcium). The gentle chia we added helps to further exfoliate, the apricot and argan oils moisturize and the essential oils of lavender, manuka, sweet orange, and lemon further enhance the experience, as essential oils are known to do.

You have choices. The DIY scrubs are endless and not difficult to make. Of course, some recipes will be better than others, but if you choose to make your own, you can specialize it to your personal skin preferences. Commercial scrubs are of course ready to apply, some healthy, some questionable.  As always, read the label and be aware of what you are actually putting on your skin.

There are important reasons why we should exfoliate the skin once or twice a week.

  1. Unclogs the pores, thus helping clear blemishes such as whiteheads, blackheads and finally acne*
  2. Helps internal cleansing by stimulating the lymphatic drainage…thus removing toxins from the body.  At the same time, it boosts our circulation, allowing oxygen to nourish the skin’s surface, leaving it glowing and radiant.
  3. By removing dry and dead skin cells, raw skin becomes smoother. This will help your other skin care products to absorb more readily. If your choices are healthy ones, this is an amazing asset to the scrub.
  4.  When exfoliating becomes part of your routine, collagen is produced and maintained. This protein increases the elasticity in the skin…which of course results in reducing appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and sagging.

*Our scrub is an all over body. While it is often recommended NOT to use a body scrub on the face’s delicate tissue, the nutrition in our scrub is excellent to truly cleanse and perfect the skin If you choose to apply our Manitouka scrub to the face, we suggest a gentle patting, not a scrubbing.  People LOVE it.  Apply with tender loving care and allow the nutrients to do their magic.

While our Manitouka scrub does contain moisturizing oils, you may wish to further moisturize after the bath or shower, especially during the winter months when the dry cool air can play havoc with our skin. We suggest our all-over Moisturizing Lotion, our Spoil Me Body Oil or one of our butters (Sheamu or Shargan).  For facial care, our creams or pure oils are a perfect choice.

We have a special on our Manitouka Scrub January 5 to7 at 15% off. Check us online or visit us at the shop.  It is the time of year when we can use a little stimulation to make us smile.
